There was something about the table
something about the way the chairs were placed
or misplaced
something about the glasses half-filled
or half-emptied
the hushed whispers
and the mirrored conversations.
Did you hear about the smoke?
It smelt nice. Bubble gummy.
But the moon in all its glory
played the biggest role of all.
It hung in the sky, big and bold.
Lighting up the dark dark canvas surrounding it.
Mars and the Moon.
It's raining now.
Perfect.
The trick is to take a deep breath
and count to three.
That's all it takes
to defy the laws of gravity.
